Over 90 years' combined higher education experience

Our team comes from diverse backgrounds. We are all driven by our mission of enabling you to tell your story in a more authentic way, so that students can make more informed, confident, and ambitious choices about their futures.

George Olesen

Co-founder, CEO

George trained as an engineer at Durham University before joining Amazon Web Services after graduating. He’s passionate about helping young people make more informed and confident decisions about their future and sees a massive opportunity for technology to improve the status quo. When starting the company, George lived on a houseboat for a year floating around the canals of north London; happily, he’s back on dry land now.

Nik Higgins

Co-founder, Partnerships

Before founding The Access Platform with George and Dom, Nik worked in further education, managing careers teams and helping young people make the transition to university. He's an advisor for a number of educational and social impact charities and likes running. Nik read English Language and Literature at St. Edmund Hall, University of Oxford, and Contemporary Literature, Culture, and Theory at King’s College London.

Dominic O'Neill

Co-founder, Product

Dom started his career early, working as a designer and developer in his teens. He since consulted with major brands in marketing and communications. He spent several years travelling and working in international schools and education agencies, and founded a feedback analytics start-up before joining The Access Platform with George and Nik. Dom read Languages and Linguistics at UCL and has studied in Amsterdam and Moscow, where he was also a teacher.

Georgina Munn

Customer Success Manager

A former Student Ambassador and active member of the community, Georgina loved her time at university: so much so that she almost never left! She joined The Access Platform after completing her masters in order to help others on their journey into higher education. Georgina read English Literature at the University of East Anglia, and Eighteenth Century Studies at King’s College, University of London.

Rebecca Longhurst

Nick Golding

Director of Strategic Development

Before joining The Access Platform, Nick was CEO and Founder of the highly-successful Cambridge Education Group, the pathway programme provider for international students aspiring to study at university in the UK, Continental Europe and the USA. As such, he has been at the interface between universities and international students for the whole of his career, helping thousands to make the transition successfully. He is also a mentor, angel investor, and ardent Suede fan. Nick read Law at Magdalene College, Cambridge.

Thamasha De Silva

University Partnerships Executive

Thamasha graduated from UCL, having achieved an integrated Master's in Natural Sciences, specialising in Synthetic Organic Chemistry and Biomedical Sciences. During her time there, she was fully involved in university life as a Student Ambassador, Academic Representative, and through working with the Communications and Marketing team. Having also worked within the Widening Participation team at UCL and completing the Teach First Insight Programme, she has experience working with young people and understands the common concerns they have regarding decisions about their futures.

Maddie Wood

University Partnerships Executive

Whilst studying English Literature with Economics at the University of Manchester, Maddie spent a semester at the University of Missouri, where she represented Manchester as a Global Ambassador. Having helped other students through the process of applying for study abroad places, and acclimatising to new campuses and countries, she has an appreciation of the support and direction that student ambassadors can give their peers. After graduating, Maddie worked in a start-up, where she loved the fast pace, and gained a passion for the adventurous nature of a young business, leading to her pursuing a career at The Access Platform. She enjoys reading and long walks on the beach.
